Which sofa to choose if you will sleep on it every night

A sofa for guests once a month and a sofa slept on every night are two different briefs. Here is how they differ.

A sofa slept on twice a year and a sofa that stands in for a bed are judged on different things. For the first, what matters is that it folds out at all. For the second, everything else does.

Below is what you should look at when the sleeping place will be the main one, and not a spare one.

The equality of the sleeping place is more important than the size

The joint in the middle is the main reason why the sofa is uncomfortable to sleep on every night. It falls exactly on the waist and can be felt in a few hours, no matter how many centimeters are around.

No folding mechanism can completely remove the joint: the seat and the back converge, and the place of their connection remains approximately in the middle of the sleeping place. The difference between sofas is not whether or not there is one, but how it feels under you.

You can check this in the only way, and only in the salon: unfold the sofa and lie on it for a minute as you sleep. Not to sit down and not to pass the palm is to lie down, because the joint manifests itself under the weight, and not under the hand.

Stiffness: soft sitting ≠ good sleeping

A sofa that seems pleasantly soft after five minutes in the salon behaves differently after eight hours of sleep: the body collapses in the center. For daily sleep, it is better to take something significantly harder than it seems comfortable to the touch.

Our sofas are filled with a spring block or highly elastic polyurethane foam. The first keeps its shape longer where the load is daily; the second is more equal. The specific filling of the model is indicated in its characteristics.

A niche for laundry is not an option, but a daily action

If the sofa is unfolded every evening, pillows and blankets have to lie somewhere during the day, and no one will take them to the closet twice a day for a long time.

Each of our models has a drawer or a niche for bedding under the seat - this is not an advantage of individual positions, but a feature of the entire line.

The size of the sleeping place is read differently than that of the bed

In the specifications of the sofa, "Sleep size" is LENGTH plus width, and the first number there is usually larger than what you are used to for beds. You can't directly compare "285×150" with a bed "160×200": the first number for a sofa is what goes along the wall.

There is only one practical test: lie down. The bed should be longer than you by at least ten centimeters.

Fabric for daily wear

Everyday decomposition is friction. Mat and chenille hold it better than velour, which tends to flake off at the folds.

If there is a cat or a dog at home, the palette has anti-vandal coatings. There are more than two hundred fabric collections in total, and they are all in the showroom, where they can be compared side by side, rather than one by one in photos.

What should be done before ordering

  • Measure the place where the sofa will be UNFOLDED, not folded
  • Check that the bed is longer than your height by 10 cm or more
  • Order fabric samples by mail and rub them by hand - the screen does not show the invoice
  • Specify the filling in the characteristics of a specific model, not the line in general
