What is inside a sofa: frame, filling, and why it does not creak
We tell you from the workshop: what is inside the frame, why the sofa does not creak and what the metal snake is responsible for.
They choose a sofa with their eyes, and they live with it for ten years. During these ten years, you can see exactly what was not in the photo: the frame is holding or driving, the seat has sagged or not, a creak has appeared or not.
Below is what's inside our sofas and what each part is for. This is our own production, so we are not talking about general words about "quality materials", but what is actually in the specification.
Frame: plywood and timber, not chipboard
The basis is 3/4 birch plywood combined with a pine furniture beam. This is important not for the sake of the word "wood": plywood does not have a fiber direction like a solid board, so it does not diverge along the seam under load, and the beam keeps the geometry at the attachment points.
Details are glued with PVA. The glue here does not add strength instead of fastening — it removes microgaps in the joints, and it is precisely these that become creaking over time. The creak in the sofa almost never comes from the mechanism; it comes from a joint that has started to move.
Filling: not one polyurethane foam, but several
The seat cushion is not a solid block of polyurethane foam, but a combination of layers of different densities: harder on the bottom, softer on top. The hard layer keeps the shape and prevents the body from falling, the soft one is responsible for how the sofa feels in the first second.
We make sofas of medium and low rigidity - this is a conscious choice of the line, and not a consequence of economy. If you need a particularly firm fit, it is more honest to say so right away than to sell a sofa that will become annoying in a month.
A metal snake that cannot be seen
In each module, there is a metal damping snake under the filling. It distributes the load over the area of the seat, instead of it being collected at the point where you sit down every day.
This is the detail that determines how many years the filler lasts. Without it, the PPU sags locally - and the same "hole in the favorite place" appears on the sofa, by which the old sofa is recognized.
Mechanism and niche
The mechanism is a "Euro book" in our dictionary, that is, the whole family, where the seat moves forward, and the backrest lowers to the vacated place. There is always a connection between them: they are two parts that converge. How much it feels is a question that is solved not by a description, but by a minute of lying in the cabin.
Under the seat, each model has a drawer or a niche for bed linen. In corner models, a niche in the corner itself is a separate option, not something that comes by default.
The fabric is the last detail and the most noticeable

This is the only part of the sofa that is visible every day and cannot be appreciated from the screen. We send samples by mail for free, and the entire palette is in the salon.
