A hard mattress does not bend under the pelvis - the body lies flat, not in a "hammock". This is what is needed for heavy weight, lower back pain on the recommendation of a doctor, and those who are just used to sleeping on a hard surface.
Stiffness here is obtained in different ways: coconut coir, dense polyurethane foam or reinforced spring block. The selection includes both spring and springless models - the specific composition of the layers is in the characteristics.
Questions and answers
- Who should not buy a firm mattress?
- For those who sleep mostly on their side. In this position, the shoulder and hip must sink somewhere, otherwise the spine will curve to the side and the pressure points will sink. For light weight and side sleeping, medium stiffness is usually more appropriate.
- Can an existing mattress be made firmer?
- Directly - no. A thin hard topper on top changes the feel a bit, but doesn't remove the sagging of the mattress itself: if it sags in the middle, it's a matter of replacement, not addition. Toppers in the catalog are listed in a separate segment.
